Other Up Coming Expeditions

Greenland Ski Traverse

The first crossing of Greenland was undertaken by Norwegian Fritjof Nansen in 1888 and consequently became one of the of great expeditions of the 19th century.

Our expedition will involve the 540 km crossing of the Greenland icecap from Ammassalik/Kulusuk on the east coast to Sondre Stromfjord on the west coast. It will involve the hauling of sledges weighting up to 95kg. All the gear and provisions needed for the month long crossing will be carried by the team from the east coast starting point.

The expedition will be undertaken in the early summer period when the weather and ice conditions will be the most favorable. Temperatures are likely to drop to –25c during the coldest days.

This expedition will be a great adventure in its own right. It will also be an important training trip developing technique, team work, equipment awareness and endurance. These factors will be critical to the success of the more demanding expeditions to the South and North Poles.

The expedition will be conducted with Adventure Consultants of Wanaka New Zealand.
